Incident in lower Penn

At approximately 1.30pm on Monday 29 January, an armed robbery of a motor vehicle took place on Dimmingsdale Road, near Lower Penn. A woman driving a blue VW Polo had pulled over to use her mobile phone when a silver vehicle pulled in front of her and collided with the front bumper of her car. Both drivers left their vehicles to assess the damage, when the offender threatened the woman with a knife, and stole her car keys. Fortunately no one was hurt but her vehicle was subsequently taken, and driven off in the direction of Wolverhampton.

Fortunately these type of offences are a rare occurrence in South Staffordshire. As a Force we have pulled together and made every effort to catch these offenders. Through some great detective work by officers from our CID, one man has been arrested with the robbery and for other offences. This man has been charged with robbery, two counts of affray, four counts of fraud by false representation, driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and making off without making payment. We continue our search for the other offender.

I would like to thank our local community for their support so far, and appeal for anyone with any information that could help to identify a second man involved to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 399 on 29th January.”

Kind regards
