Codsall Community Arts Festival

Have you heard . . . . . ?

One of the many prestigious speakers at Codsall Community Arts Festival in 2020 will be the ever-popular Charles Hanson. Drawn into the world of antiques through his love of history, Charles has become a well-known television presenter of antiques and auctions. Charles will be executing valuations from a selection of items submitted by the audience.

Award winning journalist, Peter Rhodes, offers a completely different evening when he presents his views of recent wars as well as entertaining us with amusing anecdotes of famous people he has met during the course of his career. His UK reportage has included hundreds of celebrity interviews, two royal weddings and Princess Diana’s funeral while overseas assignments took him to 40 countries covering the first Palestinian intifada, the First Gulf War, the Siege of Sarajevo, the post-war Falklands, Hong Kong, Vietnam and the North Pole. Currently, Peter has an unmissable daily column in the Express & Star, Shropshire Star, Jersey Evening Post and the MNA weeklies.

Sculpture has always been a popular attraction at Arts Festival and so it is a great pleasure to welcome Nick Grew. Nick, who is also a practising surgeon, lives in Codsall. He is inspired by the beauty and complexity of the human face, body and anatomy and how this expresses the intensity and depth of human thought, feeling and experience. Recently Nick has been appointed an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (ARBSA) and he is justifiably proud to be part of this highly respected organization.

For those who love wildlife photography, Simon King is a must. Simon is a British naturalist, author, conservationist, television presenter and cameraman, specialising in natural history documentaries. Simon has created many award-winning programmes, some of the best known being Springwatch, Big Cat Diary, Planet Earth and Blue Planet. As with all of our guest speakers, Simon’s illustrated talk promises to be both entertaining and informative.
