I have lived in Bilbrook for over 30 years along with my wife Jane and our 3 children who all grew up and were educated in our village. I have four wonderful grandchildren who keep me young. Since living here I have set up and ran Bilbrook Ladies FC for over 8 years. They won several major honours in both league and cup. After hanging up my football boots I went onto charity costume marathon running and have raised just over 137k in past 14 years and along with my friend, Earl broke Guinness World records and received awards from the BBC. We are always looking to help others.
I work and breathe my village and also I work and support our Twentyman committee who look events at and the running of our village hall. I care about our community. I have been on the Parish Council for a couple of years and like to get involved in a lot of the great work the Parish council do. You might have seen me as a character during the village light switch on, carrying the Parish flag during Remembrance Sunday or trotting around the streets in some costume or another.
I also support Lane Green First School PTA each Christmas, dropping off children presents and character visits along with helping and coaching /refereeing at Lane Green School in the football club and school matches .

I was born in the Black Country and moved to Bilbrook when I got married in 1982. I became familiar with the village as I was a youth leader at Codsall Youth Club from 1979, continuing in that role for almost 20 years. We have raised our family here and always enjoyed getting involved in various voluntary roles. I was Chair of Lane Green PTA for two years, and coached at Bilbrook Juniors for eight years. More recently, I was very happy to be part of Bilbrook Initiatives Hub, which provided some important community support, particularly during the Covid lockdown. I continue to help out with Bilbrook Repair Cafe and Friends of Bilbrook activities.
I always try to make a positive contribution towards our village, so when the opportunity to become a Parish Councillor arose, I was happy to take on the role.

I’ve lived in Bilbrook for 21 years and spent all my childhood here, so the village holds a special place in my heart. For the past 11 years—now heading into our 12th—I’ve run an events company.
I’m passionate about bringing people together and always eager to support events within the parish that help strengthen our local spirit.
Recently, I was co-opted as a parish councillor, and I’m looking forward to making positive impacts and meaningful changes in the community through this new role.

I grew up in the village and I live with my family in Bilbrook. Also, my extended family live in the village and my children have grown up here and attended the local schools.
I’ve seen the way that Bilbrook has grown and developed throughout my life and one thing that stands out for me about Bilbrook is the community and the way that they all work together. I love that we have so many different green spaces, I live by Jubilee Woods and my family and I go walking a lot, (dogs included).
I like to help and make a difference. I helped during the covid lockdowns helping with the food parcels for families that Bilbrook Initiatives Hub distributed. I’ve volunteered for other organisations too as giving my time to help is something that I feel passionate about.

I grew up in Birmingham and moved to Wolverhampton in my 20’s before settling in Bilbrook in 2022. I’m passionate about the environment and committed to supporting our local community. I became a parish councillor to work alongside my colleagues in ensuring that Bilbrook is a great place for individuals and families to live, while ensuring we protect and care for the natural spaces that make our village so special.

How to become a councillor
A parish council is the tier of local authority closest to its community as it elects representatives from within that community. Parish councils are democracy on your doorstep. Anyone can stand as a candidate provided they meet the qualification requirements or you can find out more by contacting the local borough electoral services department.
You should be:
- Aged over 18.
- A British, Commonwealth citizen, or Euro-national citizen (who is a registered elector)
- Resident for 12 months prior to the day of election – either in the parish or within 3 miles of the boundary.
- Occupied land or premises for 12 months as owner or tenant – either in the parish or within 3 miles of the boundary
- Had a principal place of work – either in the parish or within 3 miles of the boundary.
You cannot become a councillor if:
- You hold a paid office with the council.
- If you are subject to a bankruptcy restrictions order or an interim order creates disqualification which dates from the judgement or execution and generally ends one year after the relevant order is made.
- If you have within five years before the election or since election been convicted in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man of any offence and been sentenced to not less than three months imprisonment (whether suspended or not) without the option of a fine.
- Imprisonment probably includes any type of custodial sentence.
- This disqualification begins when the ordinary period for making an appeal is finally dismissed or abandoned or fails for want of prosecution.
You can get further information from the Staffordshire Parish Councils’ Association.
